Job summary

MGMI is seeking a data-driven professional to own the end-to-end technical and data execution for Compass, a central BI dashboard within Northstar that supports MGMI’s management and leaders. The role covers data sourcing, processing metrics, dashboards, and supporting applications, plus system maintenance.

You will implement data integrations, model data, develop dashboards, and ensure security and reliability across deployments.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL skills for data joining and optimization.
• Experience extracting data from APIs, databases, or spreadsheets.
• Expert in data granularity, table relationships, and business calculation definitions.
• Ability to design charts and dashboards for executives.
• Experience building frontends, backends, and APIs.
• Ability to guide AI, review code, and verify behavior.
• Knowledge of authentication, secrets, deployments, and incident recovery.
• Understanding business metrics across Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain.

Responsibilities

• Translate information requirements by clarifying management needs and preparing data designs, dashboards, and effort estimations.
• Develop data source integrations into approved applications and databases, including handling authentication and automatic updates.
• Process, clean, and model data to ensure consistent and traceable calculations.
• Implement metric definitions and formulas confirmed by business owners and document them.
• Maintain data accuracy by building automated checks, reconciling data sources, and investigating discrepancies.
• Build and develop the Compass dashboard with charts, filters, drill-downs, and update statuses.
• Develop supporting applications, including frontend, backend, and authentication integrations, and review AI-assisted code.
• Implement security standards (authorization and data access restrictions) and follow up on risk findings.
• Release and maintain applications with testing, deployments, monitoring, bug fixing, and documentation.
• Support users by explaining metrics readings, assisting with data tracking, and communicating issues to management.

Requirements

• SQL & Database: Highly proficient in writing queries, joining data sources, and optimizing data retrieval.
• Data Integration & Transformation: Capable of extracting data from APIs, databases, or spreadsheets, as well as cleaning data and managing automatic updates.
• Data Modeling & Metric Implementation: Expert in determining data granularity, table relationships, and consistently applying business calculation definitions.
• Dashboard & Visualization: Able to design charts and data visualizations that help leaders understand information easily.
• Application Development: Capable of building frontends, backends, and APIs.
• AI-assisted Development: Able to provide clear instructions to AI, review the resulting code, and verify application behavior hands-on.
• Security & Testing: Able to implement authentication, manage secrets, test data, execute deployments, and handle incident recovery.
• Business Understanding: Understand the context of business metrics (such as Finance, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain) and able to communicate data limitations to management.
