Job summary

APRIL is seeking an Absorption Chiller Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on absorption chiller systems and related equipment at the Pelalawan site. You will inspect, troubleshoot, and repair chillers, pumps, and heat exchangers, while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental requirements.

The role requires a Diploma/SMK in mechanical or refrigeration discipline, 3–5 years of experience, and hands-on LiBr chiller expertise.

Qualifications

• Diploma or SMK in mechanical or refrigeration discipline is required.
• Hands-on experience with absorption chiller systems, especially LiBr-based, is highly preferred.
• Strong reading of P&ID, mechanical drawings, manuals, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on absorption chiller systems and related equipment.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, valves, piping, and related equipment.
• Monitor equipment condition for vacuum loss, abnormal temperature/pressure, leakage, vibration, corrosion, and reduced cooling performance.
• Maintain LiBr absorption chiller systems and LiBr solution circulation and related refrigerant systems.
• Overhaul equipment, clean, inspect tubes, and replace defective components as required.
• Check and maintain pumps, bearings, seals, valves, couplings, motors, and heat exchangers.
• Support chiller commissioning, start-up, shutdown, and performance testing after maintenance.
• Analyze problems and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Prepare maintenance reports, inspection records, and equipment history.
• Coordinate with Operations, Electrical, Instrumentation, and other Maintenance teams to ensure availability and reliability.
• Ensure all activities follow SOPs, safety procedures, LOTO, work permits, and environmental requirements.
• Support shutdowns/turnarounds and major maintenance projects.
• Maintain housekeeping and ensure compliance with plant safety standards.
• Participate in continuous improvement and energy-efficiency initiatives for the chiller system.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of absorption chiller systems and related equipment.


• Conduct inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of absorption chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, valves, piping, and associated equipment.


• Monitor equipment condition and identify abnormalities such as vacuum loss, abnormal temperature/pressure, leakage, vibration, corrosion, and reduced cooling performance.


• Maintain and troubleshoot LiBr absorption chiller systems, including LiBr solution circulation and refrigerant-related systems.


• Perform equipment overhaul, cleaning, tube inspection, and replacement of defective components as required.


• Check and maintain mechanical components such as pumps, bearings, seals, valves, couplings, motors, and heat exchanger components.

Requirements

• Minimum Diploma (D3) / SMK in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, or related technical discipline.


• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in maintenance of chillers, refrigeration systems, HVAC, utility equipment, or similar process industry equipment.


• Hands-on experience with absorption chiller, particularly LiBr absorption chiller, is highly preferred.


• Strong understanding of mechanical equipment, refrigeration systems, pumps, heat exchangers, valves, and piping.


• Able to perform troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment.


• Able to read and understand P&ID, mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and maintenance procedures.


• Knowledge of vacuum systems, cooling water systems, steam/hot water systems, and chilled water systems.


• Familiar with preventive and predictive maintenance practices.


• Familiar with LOTO, work permits, PPE, and HSE requirements.


• Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.


• Able to work independently as well as in a team.


• Willing to work on a shift basis/on-call when required.


• Willing to be based in Pangkalan Kerinci, Pelalawan, Riau.
