Job summary

Beca is seeking a Graduate Mechanical & Piping Designer to join our Industrial team in Jakarta. You will work with experienced engineers on projects across minerals & metals, FMCG, and manufacturing sectors, gaining hands-on experience in 3D plant design and drafting.

You will receive mentoring and structured learning to develop technical and professional skills, while contributing to model reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement of design processes.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Interest in mechanical, piping, and industrial plant design.
• Basic understanding of engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or other 2D/3D CAD software is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development of 3D mechanical and piping models using AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Prepare and update 2D drawings, layouts, sections, and details under supervision.
• Support the development of piping and equipment arrangements.
• Assist with extraction of reports, MTOs, line lists, and drawing deliverables.
• Develop understanding of P&IDs, PFDs, and engineering specifications.
• Coordinate with engineers and designers across Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand.
• Participate in model reviews, design coordination meetings, and interdisciplinary workshops.
• Assist with maintaining project documentation and drawing registers.
• Support clash detection and model quality checks.
• Learn and apply Beca’s engineering, drafting, and quality management procedures.

As a Graduate Mechanical & Piping Designer, you will join our Industrial team and work alongside experienced engineers and designers on projects across the minerals & metals, food & beverage, FMCG, manufacturing and industrial sectors. You will gain hands‑on experience in 3D plant design, mechanical drafting, and multidisciplinary project delivery while developing your technical and professional skills through mentoring and structured learning.

This role is based in Beca’s Jakarta office.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development of 3D mechanical and piping models using AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Prepare and update 2D drawings, layouts, sections, and details under supervision.
• Support the development of piping and equipment arrangements.
• Assist with the extraction of reports, material take-offs (MTOs), line lists, and drawing deliverables from project models.
• Develop an understanding of P&IDs, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and engineering specifications.
• Coordinate closely with engineers and designers across Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand.
• Participate in model reviews, design coordination meetings, and interdisciplinary workshops.
• Assist with maintaining project documentation and drawing registers.
• Support clash detection and model quality checks.
• Learn and apply Beca’s engineering, drafting, and quality management procedures.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and tools.
• Develop understanding of mechanical equipment, piping systems, and industrial facility layouts.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Diploma degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Interest in mechanical, piping, and industrial plant design.
• Basic understanding of engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or other 2D/3D CAD software is desirable.
• Exposure to AutoCAD Plant 3D, Inventor, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar software would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
• Good English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Positive attitude and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to take ownership of assigned tasks.
• Ability to manage priorities and meet project deadlines.
• Willingness to be based in Jakarta.
