Job summary

Qube Research & Technologies (QRT) is seeking an experienced Trading Systems Software Engineer to build applications, platforms and capabilities for a global trading environment. You will work across application development, distributed systems, cloud deployment, automation and production engineering to support traders, researchers and operations.

You will design scalable, reusable capabilities that improve how trading systems are developed, deployed, monitored and operated across multiple teams

Qualifications

• At least five years of experience developing and supporting production-grade software.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, Go, Node.js or C++.
• Experience designing maintainable, scalable applications and services.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms and engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, distributed systems or event-driven architectures.
• Good working knowledge of Linux environments.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with AWS and cloud technologies.
• Understanding of messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Focus on reliability, observability, performance and failure recovery in production systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain production-grade applications, services and APIs supporting QRT’s trading platform.
• Build shared platforms and reusable capabilities across desks and teams.
• Develop modern web applications and operational tools for visibility and control of trading workflows.
• Design scalable distributed and event-driven systems that integrate with trading platforms and data services.
• Create deployment tooling, release automation and self-service capabilities for safer deployment and operation.
• Develop automated data processing workflows using Apache Airflow and related technologies.
• Collaborate with traders, researchers and operations to understand needs and deliver practical solutions.
• Balance performance with reliability and operational simplicity in latency-sensitive environments.
• Build observable, resilient systems with monitoring, alerting and recovery capabilities.
• Work with infrastructure, cloud and DevOps teams to deploy software globally.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and evaluate new technologies for value.
