Job summary

Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Haking Wong) Language Centre seeks a Teaching Associate to support teaching activities, student projects, and curriculum development. The role involves assisting in administration and contributing to language enhancement initiatives.

Preference is given to candidates with English teaching qualifications and relevant teaching experience in a language centre setting.

Qualifications

• Degree in English Language or related field, preferably with further qualification.
• English teaching qualification or transcripts showing hours and practicum.
• Good communication, presentation and digital skills; ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform teaching duties and assist in supervising student projects.
• Assist in student and academic administration tasks.

Major Duties

• (a) To perform teaching duties and assist in supervision of student projects
• (b) To assist in carrying out duties in relation to student and academic administration
• (c) To assist in developing programme curriculum and teaching, learning and assessment materials
• (d) To organise language enhancement activities and
• (e) To participate in projects and functions of the Language Centre.

Requirements

• (a)
  • (i) A recognised degree in English Language / English Language and Literature / Language Studies (English) / Linguistics / Education (English) / English Communication / Translation (English), preferably with a post-graduate qualification
  • (ii) A recognised degree in a non-relevant field AND a relevant English teaching qualification, such as Postgraduate Certificate / Diploma in Education (major in English), Teaching English as a Second Language or Teaching English as a Foreign Language or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA / Trinity CertTESOL and English-teaching certification recognised by TESL Canada) or English for Specific Purposes (ESP). A transcript with course details including the number of hours of instruction and practicum should be provided for consideration
• (b) Good communication, presentation and digital skills and
• (c) A good team player, able to work on own initiative and willing to meet challenges.
