Job summary

Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Haking Wong) Language Centre invites applications for lecturer positions to teach English and related courses. Responsibilities include supervising student projects and supporting academic administration, curriculum development and assessment material creation, as well as participating in departmental projects and functions.

Applicants should hold a recognised English-language degree (or related field) with a relevant English teaching qualification;

Qualifications

• Recognised degree in English Language / related field or equivalent.
• At least 3 years relevant teaching experience.
• Good communication and presentation skills in English and Chinese.

Major Duties:

• (a) To perform teaching duties, including supervision of student projects
• (b) To carry out duties in relation to student and academic administration
• (c) To develop programme curriculum and teaching, learning and assessment materials and
• (d) To participate in departmental projects and functions.

Requirements:

• (a) (i) A recognised degree in English Language / English Language and Literature / Language Studies (English) / Linguistics / Education (English) / English Communication / Translation (English) OR
• (a) (ii) A recognised degree in a non-relevant field AND a relevant English teaching qualification, such as Postgraduate Certificate / Diploma in Education (major in English), Teaching English as a Second Language or Teaching English as a Foreign Language or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA / Trinity CertTESOL and English-teaching certification recognised by TESL Canada) or English for Specific Purposes (ESP). A transcript with course details including the number of hours of instruction and practicum should be provided for consideration
• (b) At least 3 years relevant teaching experience and
• (c) Good communication and presentation skills in both English and Chinese.

Notes:

• (1) Applicant(s) with less experience may be considered for the post of Part-time (Evening) Assistant Lecturer at the rank of Teaching Associate.
• (2) Shortlisted candidate(s) will be required to take a written assessment.
