The company is launching a new brand focused on data center development and prefabricated product delivery. We are looking for a Technical Director who can take overall ownership of data center design, lead multi-disciplinary technical planning, and ensure that solutions are technically robust, commercially viable, and deliverable across overseas markets.
This role will act as the senior technical authority across electrical, mechanical, architectural, structural, fire services, BMS/DCIM, ICT, prefabricated modules, and project delivery interfaces. The Technical Director will work closely with management, sales, pre-sales, product, design consultants, vendors, and delivery teams to define standards, review solutions, manage technical risk, and support major customer engagements.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the overall technical direction and design quality of data center projects, from feasibility study and concept design through detailed design, tendering, delivery support, commissioning, and handover.
- Lead multi-disciplinary design coordination across electrical, HVAC, architectural, structural, fire services, BMS/DCIM, ICT, security, and operations requirements.
- Define and review data center design architecture, including capacity planning, redundancy strategy, power and cooling topology, resilience, maintainability, scalability, and lifecycle cost considerations.
- Establish technical standards, design guidelines, productized solution templates, and review mechanisms for prefabricated data center products and overseas project delivery.
- Review and approve key technical deliverables, including design narratives, drawings, specifications, technical proposals, equipment selections, value engineering options, and major technical deviations.
- Support pre-sales and sales teams in major customer engagements, technical presentations, solution positioning, tender clarification, and strategic project pursuit.
- Coordinate with external consultants, EPC contractors, vendors, and certification bodies to ensure designs meet customer requirements, international standards, local regulations, and project delivery expectations.
- Identify and manage technical risks across design, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, construction, commissioning, and operations interfaces.
- Build and mentor internal technical capability, including design review discipline, knowledge management, lessons learned, and cross-functional technical problem solving.
- Track global data center technology trends, design standards, customer requirements, sustainability expectations, and prefabricated delivery best practices.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of data center, mission-critical facility, large-scale infrastructure, or complex engineering design experience, including substantial experience leading multi-disciplinary design work.
- Proven ability to take overall ownership of data center design, with strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, architectural, structural, fire services, BMS/DCIM, ICT, and operations interfaces.
- Strong knowledge of data center reliability design, redundancy architecture, capacity planning, power and cooling strategy, maintainability, commissioning, and operational readiness.
- Experience reviewing technical proposals, design drawings, specifications, equipment selections, vendor submissions, FAT/SAT requirements, and commissioning plans.
- Familiar with international data center standards and frameworks such as Uptime Institute Tier Standard, TIA-942, ISO/IEC standards, ASHRAE, IEC, BS, IEEE, NFPA, or equivalent standards.
- Strong technical leadership, stakeholder management, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to balance technical quality, cost, schedule, and delivery risk.
- Able to communicate effectively with senior management, customers, consultants, contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams in international business environments.
- Strong English capability is required, including technical discussion, document review, and customer-facing presentation; Mandarin capability is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a technical lead, design director, engineering director, or owner representative for data center projects.
- Hands‑on experience with prefabricated data center products, modular data centers, containerized solutions, MEP modules, or overseas data center delivery.
- Experience working with Hyperscalers, cloud service providers, telecom operators, Neocloud companies, data center developers, EPC contractors, or international design consultants.
- Professional qualifications such as Chartered Engineer, Professional Engineer, RPE, CDCP/CDCS/CDCE, PMP, or equivalent certifications are an advantage.
