Job summary

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) seeks an experienced System Development Manager to own the full SDLC for listing division applications. You will design, develop, test, deploy, and support modern web-based systems used by listed companies, guiding cross-functional teams and coordinating with vendors to deliver robust, scalable solutions.

The role requires a Bachelor's in CS/IT/SE, 8+ years in enterprise web apps, strong leadership, and expertise in SPA, API design, and security

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or Software Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in enterprise web applications development and support.
• Senior System Analyst or equivalent with vendor management experience.

Job Summary

Listing Systems team is responsible for the design and implementation of all of our applications systems for our Listing Division. We are now hiring a motivated and energetic System Development Manager to join us. You will be involved in the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and production support of modern web applications used by all the listed companies.

Job Duties

• Participate in project planning, scheduling, change management, issue resolution, and release management.
• Monitor project progress, ensure adherence to project milestones, and provide timely and effective communication of project status to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business users, infrastructure, security, and development teams, to analyse business requirements and propose practical, scalable, and sustainable technical solutions.
• Define, plan, and execute testing activities to ensure applications meet both functional and non-functional requirements, including reliability, performance, resilience, contingency, and security standards.
• Support application delivery throughout the project lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Coordinate with development teams and vendors to ensure quality deliverables, timely execution, and compliance with established standards and best practices.
• Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in the development, implementation, and support of mission-critical, enterprise-scale web applications.
• Proven experience as a Senior System Analyst or equivalent role, working closely with development teams and managing vendors throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, with keen attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into robust, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions.
• Solid understanding of application security, microservices architecture, event-driven architecture, distributed systems, and scalability best practices.
• Experience with Single Page Applications (SPA), API design and governance, RESTful services, and API documentation standards such as OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Knowledge of database design, data modeling, and technologies such as PostgreSQL, GaussDB, and Redis would be an advantage.
• Proven experience in leading quality assurance activities for critical application systems, ensuring compliance with functional, technical, performance, and security requirements.
• Self-motivated and proactive team player with strong leadership capabilities, able to mentor team members and drive technical excellence.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across business and technical teams.
