Job summary

Fubon Bank (Hong Kong) seeks an experienced Java developer to design, develop, enhance, and maintain Java-based enterprise and banking applications, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability.

You will collaborate with stakeholders and IT teams to translate requirements, participate in the SDLC, plan deployments, monitor performance, and contribute to architecture and documentation for reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of hands-on professional experience in Java development, preferably in banking/financial services.
• Experience with mission-critical enterprise applications requiring high availability and security.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for production environments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Understanding of software development best practices including OO design, testing, and code quality.
• Experience or domain knowledge in Payment platforms or banking systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain Java-based enterprise and banking applications, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability.
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and cross-functional IT teams to gather, analyze, and translate requirements into specifications.
• Participate actively in the SDLC including analysis, design, development, code reviews, unit/integration testing, and UAT.
• Plan, coordinate, and manage deployments, upgrades, patches, and releases with minimal downtime.
• Monitor application performance and troubleshoot, performing root-cause analysis and preventive solutions.
• Contribute to system architecture design and technical decision-making aligned with standards and security policies.
• Maintain technical documentation, system specifications, and operational procedures.
• Support continuous improvement by recommending enhancements to functionality, performance, and reliability.

• Solid understanding of software development best practices, including object-oriented design, testing methodologies, and code quality standards.
• Experience or domain knowledge in Payment platforms, or general banking systems is a strong advantage.
