Job summary

Happy Life Education Foundation Limited is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician to support the Science Department across Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The role ensures safe, efficient operation of the school’s science laboratories and hands-on support for practical science education.

You will prepare materials and equipment for practical lessons, assist teachers during classes and assessments, and help with A Level and IBDP exams, IAs and EEs.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in a relevant scientific field (Chemistry, Biology or Laboratory Technology).
• Experience in a laboratory environment, preferably in education.
• Experience preparing A Level Biology, Chemistry and Physics practical exams.
• Experience supporting IBDP Science Internal Assessments (IAs) and Extended Essays (EEs).
• Strong understanding of lab equipment, procedures, and health & safety standards.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students.
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up materials, equipment, and chemicals for practical science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
• Support science teachers during practical classes and assessments.
• Prepare resources and setups for A Level practical examinations (CIE).
• Support students and teachers in IBDP IAs and EEs in the sciences.
• Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained, cleaned, and stored properly.
• Manage inventory of chemicals and lab supplies, including ordering and storage.
• Dispose of chemical and biological waste safely and in accordance with regulations.
• Maintain SDS records and risk assessments; assist with lab safety procedures.
