Job summary

Leading Consumer Bank is seeking a senior infrastructure professional to act as SME for major banking projects. You will drive planning, design, and implementation of highly available UNIX/Linux and Cloud systems.

You will lead complex system evaluations, capacity planning, performance tuning, and upgrades, while mentoring junior engineers and ensuring regulatory compliance. Strong English and Chinese skills are required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of enterprise UNIX/Linux administration and engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Act as SME for major banking projects and lead planning, design, and implementation of UNIX/Linux and Cloud systems.
• Lead advanced system engineering, capacity planning, performance tuning, and high-availability clustering.
• Serve as Level 2 escalation point for complex incidents and perform root cause analysis with vendors.
• Drive infrastructure automation and DevOps, using scripting and configuration management tools.
• Provide technical guidance to development, operations, and IT management during large deployments.
• Mentor junior engineers, prepare runbooks, and ensure compliance with banking regulations and IT policies.
• Provide Level 2 on-call support and lead weekend change-window implementations.

Job description

Our client, a Leading Consumer Bank, is looking for high-caliber person to fill the position.

Job Duties

• Subject Matter Expert (SME) & Project Leadership: Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for major banking projects. Drive the planning, design, and implementation of highly available UNIX / Linux and Cloud systems.
• Advanced System Engineering: Lead complex system evaluations, capacity planning, performance tuning, and security baseline engineering. Plan and execute large-scale upgrades and migrations for end-of-support hardware / software.
• Level 2 Escalation & Troubleshooting: Serve as the highest point of internal technical escalation for complex incidents. Perform deep-dive root cause analysis (Problem Management) and liaise with enterprise vendors (IBM, RedHat, AWS) for critical bug fixes.
• Automation & Modernization: Drive infrastructure automation and DevOps practices. Design and implement scripting and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Python) to eliminate manual toil and streamline TD operational procedures.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Provide authoritative technical advice to application development teams, operations staff, and IT management. Ensure seamless technical coordination between Application and Infrastructure teams during largescale deployments.
• Mentorship & Governance: Mentor junior (Level 1) engineers, create technical documentation / runbooks, and ensure all systems strictly adhere to banking regulatory standards and IT policies.
• Operational Coverage: Provide Level 2 on-call support for critical banking systems during non-office hours and lead complex weekend change-window implementations.

Job Requirements

Academic & Professional Qualifications:-

• University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of solid, hands-on enterprise experience in UNIX (IBM AIX / Oracle Solaris) and Linux (RedHat Enterprise Linux) administration and engineering.
• Core Infrastructure (Mandatory): Deep expertise in OS internals, performance tuning, patch management, and high-availability clustering in UNIX / Linux environments. Knowledge of Container Management / Orchestration tools (OpenShift, Kubernetes).
• Automation (Mandatory): Proven experience in scripting (Bash, Python) and utilizing task automation / configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, BMC TrueSight).
• Cloud & Containers (Highly Preferred): 3-5 years of relevant experience in Cloud platform administration (AWS & GCP). Hands-on experience with Container Management and Orchestration tools (OpenShift / Kubernetes) is a definite advantage.
