Job summary

JNL Consulting Limited is recruiting an experienced SQL Specialist / Database Developer for a 12-month contract in Hong Kong. You will design, optimize, and maintain backend database architecture, including complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and UDFs, working closely with IT leadership and applications teams.

Responsibilities include tuning performance, building ETL/ELT pipelines, and supporting data migrations between legacy systems and modern platforms.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on database development experience.
• Experience with MS SQL Server, Oracle PL/SQL, or PostgreSQL.
• Expert in Stored Procedures, query profiling, and indexing strategies.
• Experience with ETL tools (SSIS, Informatica, or Python-based pipelines).
• Experience in insurance, banking, or financial services domain is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and UDFs.
• Tune databases, analyze execution plans, and optimize indexes.
• Build, automate, and monitor ETL/ELT pipelines and batch jobs.
• Support data migration and schema changes between legacy systems and modern platforms.
• Collaborate with analysts, architects, and developers to validate data models and requirements.
