About The Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic credit risk professional to lead our Credit Control Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving credit underwriting strategies, portfolio performance, risk management, and regulatory compliance across our consumer lending business. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a seasoned leader to shape credit policies, optimize portfolio quality, and lead a high-performing team across Hong Kong and China operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, review and enhance credit underwriting standards, credit policies, and operating procedures.
• Monitor portfolio performance indicators, including approval rates, drawdown rates, processing turnaround times and portfolio quality, and recommend improvement initiatives.
• Drive credit limit assignment, risk segmentation and cross-selling strategies to optimize portfolio performance and customer value.
• Utilize credit scoring models, data analytics and risk assessment tools to support credit decision-making and portfolio management.
• Review and approve exceptional credit applications and high-value lending cases within delegated authority limits.
• Partner closely with Analytics, Business, Operations and other stakeholders to formulate, implement and monitor credit and portfolio strategies.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, internal policies, governance standards and audit requirements.
• Lead, coach and develop a team of credit approval professionals across Hong Kong and China back-office operations.
• Drive continuous process improvement and operational efficiency initiatives within the credit approval function.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Risk Management, Finance or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of solid experience in retail lending, consumer finance, credit card and unsecured loan underwriting.
• Proven track record in credit approval, credit policy development and portfolio risk management.
• Strong understanding of credit scoring models, risk-based pricing methodologies and scorecard-driven underwriting frameworks.
• Hands-on experience in approving exception cases and large-ticket loan applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex credit and portfolio data.
• Experience in portfolio monitoring, strategy review and performance optimization.Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
