Job summary

Millennium Technology Services seeks an experienced Senior Linux Engineer to support a large-scale, mission-critical banking infrastructure in Hong Kong. The role emphasizes hands-on Red Hat Linux administration (RHEL 8/9) and production support for high-availability environments.

You will perform system administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, patching, and DR activities. Collaboration with project teams on architecture, lifecycle management, and audit/compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on Red Hat Linux administration experience, ideally including RHEL 8/9.
• Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure environments and system architecture/design.
• Hands-on experience in Linux troubleshooting, performance tuning, patching and lifecycle management.
• Experience with VMware virtualized environments.
• Experience with enterprise High Availability / clustering and distributed systems.
• Proficient Shell scripting capability.
• Experience with Ansible and BigFix is highly desirable.
• Experience in banking/financial services or large enterprise environments.
• Strong IT audit, security and compliance understanding.
• Able to communicate in spoken and written Chinese and English; Mandarin a plus.
• Willing to provide 24/7 support for urgent production incidents.

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Linux Engineer to support a large-scale, mission-critical banking infrastructure environment in Hong Kong.

The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8/9) administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, patching, high-availability/clustering technologies and production infrastructure support.

This is a hands-on technical position suited to an experienced Linux professional who is comfortable supporting critical production environments, participating in DR activities, handling infrastructure changes and providing technical guidance to junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day Linux system administration, including system setup, backup, software installation, patching, upgrades, monitoring and system health checks.
• Troubleshoot complex Linux infrastructure and production issues and perform root cause analysis (RCA).
• Perform system performance monitoring, tuning and capacity management across systems and applications.
• Provide technical advice to project teams on system architecture and infrastructure design.
• Support Linux platform lifecycle management, including End-of-Support (EOS) upgrades and patch management.
• Maintain and improve technical standards and operational procedures in accordance with internal IT audit and compliance requirements.
• Prepare and deliver system capacity, availability and performance reports.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior system administrators.
• Oversee routine operational activities and ensure tasks are completed within required timelines.
• Develop, maintain and execute Disaster Recovery (DR) and failover procedures, including support for annual DR exercises.
• Coordinate infrastructure changes associated with network deployments, upgrades and other production changes.
• Implement preventive and corrective actions following production incidents.
• Maintain appropriate technical documentation and support audit/compliance activities, including SAT and user-access reviews.

Requirements

• Experience supporting production infrastructure within banking, financial services or other large enterprise environments would be advantageous.

• Self-motivated, technically strong and comfortable working in a mission-critical production environment.
• Willing and able to provide 24/7 support coverage and out-of-office-hours support for urgent production incidents.
