Job summary

A global investment bank in Hong Kong is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join Equity Derivatives Technology desk. The successful candidate will design, develop, and enhance software components across the derivatives lifecycle.

You will write clean, testable code; collaborate with front-office teams, and participate in design reviews while supporting production releases and investigations. 7+ years of Java and Spring experience preferred.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong programming experience in Java and Spring framework.
• Solid knowledge of APIs, data structures, multithreading/concurrency, and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Experience in financial services or derivatives technology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend services/components in Java for equity derivatives workflows.
• Collaborate with quantitative researchers, business analysts, and trading/risk stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Write clean, testable code; create and maintain unit/integration tests and automate where appropriate.
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical guidance to peers.
• Support production change delivery (UAT, release readiness) and assist in incident investigations as needed.
• Improve system performance, scalability, and resilience (caching, async processing, retry/backoff, graceful degradation).
• Follow engineering standards for security, auditability, and operational controls (logging, monitoring, traceability).
