Founded in 1994 by acclaimed designer Joe Cheng, CCD is a leading interior design consultancy specialising in international hospitality design. In 2022, CCD ranked No.1 globally on Interior Design magazine's "Top 10 Hospitality" list, the first Chinese design firm to take the top spot in the list's 45-year history. The practice holds over 100 international awards, including the Gold Key Award for Excellence in Hospitality Design, the industry's highest honour. With studios across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Australia and North America, our multicultural team delivers timeless, innovative design driven by narrative, materiality, light and atmosphere.
About the Role
As part of CCD's studio, you will lead the spatial design of luxury hotel and high-end residential projects for leading international brands and private clients. Every CCD project begins with a unique concept narrative, and your role is to translate that narrative into interior architecture, planning and documentation, carrying the story through every stage while balancing design quality, functionality and commercial outcomes locally and abroad.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day spatial design on allocated hospitality and high-end residential projects, from early concept and space planning through to detailed documentation and on-site coordination, delivering within the client-approved budget and programme.
- Contribute spatial and architectural thinking to each project's concept design narrative, developed collaboratively with the wider design team, and ensure it remains legible in the built outcome.
- Develop and refine interior concepts, spatial planning and interior architecture that reflect CCD's design language while responding to each client's brand, brief and budget.
- Lead client presentations and design workshops, presenting concepts, design development and material direction with clarity and confidence.
- Work closely with the FF&E design team, who develop the FF&E schemes, reviewing their selections against the spatial concept and project narrative and supporting their integration into the overall design.
- Take responsibility for key project components acting as the coordinator who brings together inputs from FF&E, 3D and local consultants into one cohesive outcome.
- Prepare clear, high-quality documentation suitable for tender and construction, coordinating with architects, engineers and other project consultants.
- Attend client, consultant and site meetings, representing the design intent through construction and resolving queries as they arise.
- Guide and mentor junior designers on your project teams, reviewing their work and supporting their development.
- Collaborate closely with CCD studios in Asia, the Middle East and Europe to align concepts, documentation standards and design quality across offices.
- Contribute to internal design reviews, sharing knowledge and supporting a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
