Job summary

Manulife Financial seeks a Senior Full-stack Software Engineer to own end-to-end development across frontend, backend and cloud infrastructure. You will lead architectural discussions, mentor teams, ensure code quality, and drive delivery in a SCRUM environment while collaborating with cross-functional partners to deliver scalable, secure solutions on Azure and related services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 8+ years of full-stack software development experience; minimum of 5 years in a leading role.
• Proficiency in Java, Springboot, Angular, Node.js/React, Azure DB, JavaScript, AKS & Azure cloud services.
• Solid experience or knowledge of Alibaba cloud, Polar DB, AI technologies are an advantage.
• Experience with DevOps, RESTful API design, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and version control.
• Strong understanding of performance optimization and coding standards.
• Collaborative mindset with ability to coach, mentor and lead teams.
• Experiments with emerging technologies and understanding how they will impact what comes next.
• Familiarity with insurance industry and distribution compensation systems is a plus.
• Experience managing sizable projects or programs is preferable

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain end-to-end application stack including frontend, backend and cloud infrastructure.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to feature/system design.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure quality and industry norms.
• Debug and resolve technical issues with cross-functional teams.
• Apply best practices for system security including authentication, authorization, encryption, and threat mitigation.
• Write clean, well-documented code adhering to industry standards.
• Manage vendor to ensure timely, high-quality, cost-effective deliverables.
• Contribute to Agile planning and delivery of user stories in a SCRUM environment.
• Provide production support during non-office hours as required.
