Job summary

Hohenstein Laboratories (Hong Kong) is hiring a Senior Chemist (Organic Chemistry) to join its chemical team in Kwai Fong. The role focuses on supervising daily lab operations, conducting routine tests, and ensuring ISO 17025 compliance.

The successful candidate will have a chemistry degree, at least five years in a chemical testing lab, and strong English communication and organizational skills. Supervision experience is a plus, and the lab uses GC-MS/MS, LC-DAD/MSMS, ICP-OES, AAS, and UV-Vis.

Qualifications

• Degree or above in Chemistry or related subject.
• At least 5 years solid experience in operation of a chemical testing laboratory; supervisory level experience is an advantage.
• Experience in ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory is a must.

Responsibilities

• Assist supervisor to monitor technical staff for daily operations of the analytical chemistry laboratory.
• Carry out routine chemical testing according to SOP.
• Monitor instrument performance and maintain daily operations to meet testing turn-around time and deadline of projects.
• Develop and implement new test programs, methods, instrumentation, and internal procedures according to regulatory and client requirements.
• Ensure the laboratory is operated in accordance with ISO 17025 requirements.
• Report work progress, deficiencies, and malfunctions to supervisor.
• Identify and report any potential problems within the analytical chemistry laboratory to supervisor.

Senior Chemist (Organic Chemistry)

What you will be doing?

You need to be

• Degree or above in Chemistry or related subject
• At least 5 years solid experience in operation of a chemical testing laboratory; Experience in supervisory level is an advantage
• Solid experience working in ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory is a must
• Familiarity with operating and maintenance of analytical instruments, i.e. GC-MSMS, LC-DAD/MSMS, ICP-OES, AAS, UV-Vis, etc.
• Experience in R&D projects for chemical testing is preferred
• Self-motivated, independent, good problem-solving skills, and with good communication skills
• Good in organization and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish relationships both internally and externally
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• Less experience will be considered as Assistant Chemist
