Job summary

Aptitude Asia Limited is seeking a Senior Analyst, Special Situations to join the investment team of a multi-strategy hedge fund in Hong Kong. This role focuses on identifying and capitalizing on opportunities arising from corporate events, distressed situations, and non-traditional scenarios.

You will build financial models, evaluate valuations and catalysts, and present recommendations to the investment committee.

Qualifications

• University graduate in Economics, Finance, Business, or related fields.
• 3+ years of research experience in hedge funds, investment banking, distressed debt, or special situations.
• Proficiency in financial modeling, valuation techniques, and statistical analysis.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, intellectually stimulating environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth research on corporate events such as mergers, acquisitions, spin-offs, bankruptcies, and restructurings.
• Evaluate the impact of these events on companies valuations, capital structures, and potential catalysts.
• Identify mispriced securities and arbitrage opportunities resulting from special situations.
• Analyze distressed debt instruments, including bonds, loans, and other credit securities.
• Assess the financial health of distressed companies, their restructuring plans, and recovery prospects.
• Collaborate with legal and financial advisors to navigate complex bankruptcy proceedings.
• Evaluate risk-adjusted returns from pending mergers and acquisitions.
• Build financial models to assess various scenarios underpinning special situations.
• Present investment recommendations to senior management and the investment committee.
