Job summary

Wati is seeking a Senior Agentic Engineer to join the Enterprise team in Hong Kong. You will own core backend features end-to-end for a multi-tenant SaaS platform including WhatsApp Business messaging, automation, analytics, and AI-powered tooling.

You will design APIs, data models, and async workflows, coordinate across backend, frontend, and billing, and leverage AI coding agents as a core part of daily development. English communication with international teams is essential.

Qualifications

5+ years of software engineering experience with strong backend skills.
Experience designing APIs, data models, and async workflows for multi-tenant SaaS.
Proven ability to debug and resolve complex production issues across services.
Experience using AI coding agents as a core development tool (Codex, Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot).
Domain experience with messaging or customer engagement platforms is a plus.
Professional working proficiency in English for international collaboration.

Responsibilities

Design and implement backend features for a multi-tenant SaaS platform (WhatsApp messaging, automation, analytics).
Own technical designs and drive cross-repo coordination across backend, frontend, and billing; validate frontend changes when needed.
Debug production issues across distributed systems and async pipelines.
Build and use AI agents to accelerate engineering workflows—from code generation to testing and documentation.
Collaborate with PM, CS, and international teams in English.
