Job description

  • Track developing financial and demographic experience, and contribute to regular experience investigations and assumption setting cycles. This includes building clear supporting rationales, assessing the financial implications of proposed changes, and preparing the documentation and evidence needed for formal review and sign-off.
  • Produce sensitivity and movement analyses under the relevant financial reporting framework, covering both the balance sheet and profit & loss. Identify the main drivers of change and explain significant movements between periods.
  • Generate accurate actuarial results and management information for both statutory and financial reporting purposes, meeting the required timelines.
  • Partner with modelling and other actuarial teams to ensure approved methodologies and assumptions are correctly implemented. This covers model updates, change management, testing, and validation activities.
  • Uphold sound model governance standards for financial reporting, including documentation and control frameworks. Coordinate the provision of responses and supporting materials for external and internal audit, model validation, compliance, and regulatory requests.
  • Provide reliable actuarial inputs and practical insights to support the annual planning process and other ad-hoc management requests. Work closely with reporting, finance, risk, modelling, and other internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Risk Management, or a closely related quantitative field.
  • Solid progress toward qualification with the Society of Actuaries or another recognised actuarial body.
  • Around 3–5 years of hands‑on actuarial experience, ideally gained in life insurance reporting, valuation, or a corporate actuarial role.
  • Demonstrable experience in monitoring experience and supporting assumption reviews, including quantifying financial impacts and preparing materials for governance or approval processes.
  • Prior involvement in sensitivity testing and movement analysis under a financial reporting framework (experience with IFRS 17 is advantageous).
  • Familiarity with actuarial model governance practices, including how methodologies and assumptions are implemented, tested, controlled, and validated.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities, together with the confidence to manage stakeholders effectively. Clear written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese.
  • Comfortable working independently, balancing multiple priorities, and delivering high-quality work to tight reporting and governance deadlines.
