Job summary

China Harbour Engineering Co Ltd is seeking a seasoned Safety Officer for a Hong Kong contract to establish, implement and maintain a comprehensive safety management system across the project, ensuring compliance with all specifications.

You will advise management on safety improvements, inspect sites for deficiencies, provide training to personnel, and lead annual safety forums. Extensive construction safety experience and English/Chinese proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree or above in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
• 10–15 years’ practical experience as a Registered Safety Officer in construction.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in site safety management.
• Fluent in English and Chinese (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

Job description

Establish, implement and maintan a safety management system;

Oversee all safety and health matters of the contract throughout the contract period to ensure compliance with all requirements under Particular Specification Section 27;

Advise management on measures to improve site safety;

Inspect the site to identity safety deficiencies and make recommendation for improvement;

Provide safety training to site personnel;

Conduct a site safety forum/workshop once per calendar year to maintain momentum and motivate participation of all site personnel on site safety;

Investigate accidents that occurred and make recommendation to prevent recurrence;

Develop and implement safety promotion program;

Carry out internal safety audits and safety inspections;

Prepare safety document and reports.

Job Requirements:

Degree or above in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent;

Minimum 10-15 years of practical experience as a Registered Safety Officer in construction industry;

Minimum 5 years of experience in site safety management;

Good command of both spoken and written English & Chinese;

Registered Safety Auditor will be an advantage;

Must be familiar with and ensure compliance with Government legislation, regulations and/or codes of practice;

Candidate with less qualification / experience will be considered as Senior Safety Officer.
