Job summary

Optimum Solutions (Hong Kong) Limited seeks a QA Functional Tester with insurance domain experience to join our testing team in Hong Kong. The role requires 5–8 years of hands-on experience in functional and integration testing for business applications, with practical API testing using Postman.

Responsibilities include designing and executing functional and integration test cases, API testing, SQL data validation, and defect tracking.

Qualifications

• Hands‑on experience in functional and integration testing for business applications.
• Strong ability to understand business processes and translate them into test scenarios.
• Practical experience using Postman for API testing and validating responses.
• SQL knowledge: writing basic to intermediate SELECT queries and data validation.
• Familiarity with defect and test management tools (Azure DevOps, Jira, HP ALM).

Responsibilities

• Review requirements and design functional and integration tests.
• Design, prepare, and execute test cases for system and regression testing.
• Execute API tests with Postman and validate API integrations.
• Query databases to prepare and validate test data.
• Log defects and coordinate with developers to retest fixes.
• Contribute to regression testing and participate in stand-ups and meetings.

LOCATION- Hong Kong

SUMMARY

5-8 years of experience in in functional and integration testing or QA for business applications.

Practical experience usingPostman(or similar tools) forAPI testing

Must have worked in insurance industry/ project

Required Skills & Experience

Hands‑on experience infunctional and integration testingor QA for business applications.

Strong ability tounderstand business processesand translate them into comprehensive test scenarios and test cases.

Practical experience usingPostman(or similar tools) forAPI testing, including:

Creating and executing API requests

Validating responses and error handling

Working with environments, collections, and basic scripting (nice to have)

Working knowledge ofSQL:

Writing basic to intermediate SELECT queries

Filtering, joining tables, and validating data for testing purposes

Familiarity withdefect management and test management tools(e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira, HP ALM, or similar).

Good analytical skills with attention to detail and astructured approach to testing.

Ability to work collaboratively withbusiness analysts, developers, and project managers.

Strong written and verbalcommunication skills.

Energetic, positive attitude,willing to learn, and open to taking on new responsibilities.

Willingness towork overtimewhen required to support integration and functional testing for critical releases or project milestones.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and understandbusiness requirements, user stories, and solution designsfor assigned projects.


• Design, prepare, and executefunctional test casesfor system and regression testing.


• Design, prepare, and executeintegration test cases, covering end‑to‑end flows across multiple systems.


• UsePostmanor similar tools to:


• o TestAPIs(request/response verification, status codes, headers, payloads).


• o Validate API integrations between systems and services.


• o Query databases toprepare and validate test data.


• o Verifydata integrityand results of test execution.


• Prepare and maintaintest documentation(test cases, test execution reports) according to team standards.


• Log and trackdefects, collaborate with developers and analysts to clarify issues, and retest fixes.


• Contribute toregression testingfor releases and changes, ensuring key business flows remain stable.


• Participate indaily stand‑ups and project meetings, providing clear status updates and raising risks or issues.

Preferred

• Experience ininsurance domainwith practical knowledge of key processes (policy issuance, endorsements, claims, renewals, etc.).


• Exposure toAzure Cloudenvironments or tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, cloud‑hosted applications).


• Experience or interest in working withAI‑enabled systemsor analytics, including understanding of how such solutions are tested.


• ISTQB or equivalenttesting certification.


• Experience working inAgile/Scrumprojects.
