Python Software Engineer | Trading & Buy-Side Technology | Hong Kong
I’m working with several leading global hedge funds and systematic investment firms that are expanding their technology teams across Hong Kong and Singapore.
These firms operate at the forefront of quantitative investing and electronic trading. You’ll work alongside portfolio managers, quantitative researchers, traders, and engineers to build high-performance platforms supporting research, risk, data, and live trading.
The focus is firmly on core Python software engineering, with high business visibility and direct impact.
What you will do
- Build scalable, production-grade systems using Python.
- Develop research platforms, trading tools, APIs, libraries, and data pipelines.
- Solve complex problems across distributed computing, large-scale data processing, and system performance.
- Turn research and investment requirements into reliable production technology.
- Own systems from design and development through testing, deployment, and production.
- Work directly with portfolio managers, traders, and quantitative researchers.
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of system design, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.
- Strong engineering discipline across testing, code review, CI/CD, and observability.
- Experience with SQL, databases, APIs, or streaming technologies.
- Strong financial-markets knowledge and experience within a hedge fund, proprietary trading firm, asset manager, investment bank, or fintech.
- A self-driven mindset and genuine interest in solving difficult technical problems.
Nice to Have
- Strong mathematics, statistics, modelling, or quantitative research skills.
- Experience with systematic strategies, backtesting, derivatives, risk, or financial data.
- Strong interest in production engineering, SRE, or L1-L3 application-support.
