Job summary

Education Bureau, Innovation Technology Education Division, invites applications for a Project Officer I (Technology Education) to help plan and implement community outreach for technology education at the primary level. The role requires a relevant degree, a teaching qualification, strong language skills and substantial project management experience.

The appointment is a non-civil service contract for 1 year, with fringe benefits including annual leave and gratuity upon satisfactory

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, information technology, STEAM-related subjects or business-related subjects, or equivalent
  • Certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution, or equivalent
  • Language proficiency: Chinese and English Level 2+ in HKDSEE/HKCEE or equivalent
  • At least 6 years' relevant post-qualification experience in teaching/curriculum development/project management related to Technology Education
  • Experience in government bureaux/departments and/or project management preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and implement the community outreach strategy for a project related to strengthening Technology Education at primary level
  • Liaise with the school sector and professional bodies/companies; organise events and competitions to enhance community outreach of the project
  • Coordinate teacher networking activities and sharing sessions for dissemination of good practices
  • Provide administrative support to the project
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned

Job description

Division/Section/Unit: Innovation Technology Education Division

Job Title: Project Officer I (Technology Education) (EDB/ITE/176/26)

Entry Requirements
  • (a) A Hong Kong bachelor's degree majoring in education, information technology, or Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM)-related subjects or business-related subjects, or equivalent [see Note (i)];
  • (b) A certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution, or equivalent;
  • (c) Met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [see Note (ii)];
  • (d) At least 6 years' relevant post-qualification working experience in teaching and/or curriculum development and/or managing projects related to Technology Education;
  • (e) Candidates who have worked in government bureaux / departments and/or possessed experience in project management preferred; and
  • (f) Candidates may be required to take a written test on the day of selection interview.
Note
  • (i) Candidates should mark clearly on their application forms the major and minor subjects studied in their degree courses. Candidates possessing additional qualifications (e.g. a Master / PhD degree) should include details in their applications.
  • (ii) For appointment purpose, 'Grade C' and 'Grade E' in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to 'Level 3' and 'Level 2' respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
  • (iii) For general awareness, a locally-accredited Hong Kong bachelor's degree is at Level 5 under the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (HKQF). While there are other qualifications under HKQF Level 5, for the purpose of this recruitment exercise, only bachelor's degree is acceptable.   • (iv) Candidates should state the nature and relevancy of the experience.
Duties
  • (a) To plan, coordinate and implement the community outreach strategy for a project related to strengthening Technology Education at primary level;
  • (b) To liaise with the school sector and professional bodies and/or companies, and organise events and competitions to enhance community outreach of the project;
  • (c) To coordinate teacher networking activities and sharing session for dissemination of good practices;
  • (d) To provide administrative support to the project; and
  • (e) To undertake any other duties as assigned.

Terms of Appointment: Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for 1 year.

Fringe Benefits
  • (a) 14 days annual leave and full pay sickness allowance whereas rest days, statutory holidays(or substituted holidays), maternity leave/paternity leave, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
  • (b) A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
