Job summary

Digital Policy in Hong Kong is seeking an experienced Events and Public Relations professional to join on a 12-month non-civil service contract. You will help plan and coordinate territory-wide and cross-district celebration activities, liaising with government departments, NGOs and stakeholders.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree, 5+ years of relevant experience, strong Chinese and English, and proficiency in Word and Excel. Working outside hours and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in event organisation and/or public relations.
  • Good communication and organisation skills.
  • Proficiency in Chinese and English (written and spoken).
  • Good computer knowledge including MS Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in drawing up operational plans and publicity plans for celebration activities.
  • Coordinate and liaise with government departments, NGOs and parties for territory-wide/regional/cross-district activities.
  • Assist in compiling and monitoring the programme budget.
  • Assist in handling guest invitation matters.
  • Assist in arranging design and printing of invitation cards, reply slips, guidance notes, etc.
  • Assist in processing funding applications from NGOs implementing projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • If necessary, work outside normal office hours including weekends and public holidays.

Entry Requirements:
  • (a) a bachelor degree from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent;
  • (b) minimum 5 years of post-qualification working experience in event organisation and/ or public relations including large scale functions at territory-wide or international level;
  • (c) good communication and organisation skills;
  • (d) good command of Chinese and English (both written and spoken); and
  • (e) good computer knowledge including proficiency of MS Word and Excel.
Duties:
  • (a) To assist in drawing up the operational plans and publicity plans for celebration activities and territory-wide/regional/cross-district projects.
  • (b) To implement the celebration and territory-wide/regional/cross-district activities including coordinating and liaising with government departments, non-government organisations and various parties.
  • (c) To assist in compiling and monitoring the programme budget.
  • (d) To assist in handling the guest invitation matters.
  • (e) To assist in arranging the design and printing of invitation cards, reply slips, guidance notes, etc.
  • (f) To assist in processing funding applications from non-government organisation in implementing projects.
  • (g) any other duties as assigned.
  • (h) If necessary, will be required to work outside normal office hours including Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.

Terms of Appointment: Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for 12 months. The actual contract period will be determined by the Bureau according to operational needs.

Fringe Benefits:
  • (a) In addition to statutory holidays, 12 days paid annual leave, maternity leave and sickness allowance will be granted to the candidates appointed. Details of which will be confirmed at the time of the offer of appointment.
  • (b) A gratuity may be granted at the end of the contract period if the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. The amount of gratuity payable will be the sum which, when added to the Government’s contribution to the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, equals to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.

  • (a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

  • (g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications.
