Position Mission

Acting as a bridge between cutting‑edge technologies and the traditional construction industry, the incumbent will represent HKCRC in driving the commercialization and market adoption of smart construction technologies, including construction robotics, automation equipment, AI‑powered visual inspection systems, and related innovations across Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

This role requires a deep understanding of the challenges facing the construction industry and the innovation ecosystem. Through close engagement with government departments, property developers, and main contractors, the candidate will expand application scenarios and partnership opportunities for the Centre's research and development outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Government and Industry Stakeholder Relationship Management
  • Establish and strengthen strategic partnerships with relevant Hong Kong government departments (such as the Housing Department, Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, and Innovation and Technology Commission), major property developers, and leading construction contractors.
  • Prepare content for government communications and reports, and coordinate the submission of government reports.
Internal Project Coordination and Progress Management
  • Coordinate and oversee multiple internal R&D project teams across different product lines and software/hardware development functions.
  • Evaluate the incubation progress of project teams and provide recommendations on incubation‑stage decisions.
  • Organize and maintain technical documentation, knowledge repositories, and code management systems for the Centre's technical teams.
Technology Commercialization and Deployment
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Centre's robotics products and smart construction solutions.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear business and operational value propositions for customers.
  • Facilitate pilot implementations and large‑scale deployment of innovative technologies in real‑world construction projects.
Market Insights and Industry Feedback
  • Monitor industry trends, policy developments, and market demands within Hong Kong's construction sector, including initiatives such as Construction 2.0 and Modular Integrated Construction (MiC).
  • Provide frontline market intelligence and industry pain‑point feedback to R&D teams to support product enhancement and strategic direction.
Project Facilitation and Partnership Development
  • Lead the follow‑up and development of partnership opportunities.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure successful project execution.
  • Lead business negotiations and implementation of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), technology demonstration projects, and commercial agreements.
Brand Building and Industry Influence
  • Support the organization of, and participation in, industry exhibitions, technology exchange events, and government visits.
  • Enhance HKCRC's visibility, reputation, and influence in the smart construction sector.
Requirements
Industry Experience First
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, project management, public relations, or related functions within Hong Kong's construction, property development, or engineering sectors.
  • Practical industry experience is valued more highly than academic qualifications.
  • Candidates with extensive professional networks and industry connections will have a distinct advantage.
Cross‑functional Leadership and Project Execution
  • Strong project management capabilities with the ability to align internal scientists, R&D engineers, and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to optimize resources, manage competing priorities, and resolve bottlenecks that hinder project progress.
Industry and Innovation Knowledge
  • Solid understanding of the full lifecycle of construction and engineering projects, as well as on‑site construction operations in Hong Kong.
  • Deep awareness of key industry challenges, such as labor shortages and workplace safety concerns.
  • Strong interest in, and basic understanding of, the application of innovative technologies such as robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT) in construction.
  • Technical expertise is not required; however, a commercialization mindset and an understanding of technology‑driven business opportunities are essential.
