Teal Goal Limited is seeking a Product Manager Electrical, Lighting, Home & Living to lead the Electrical & Lighting category across Hong Kong or Shanghai. You will oversee market research, product selection, supplier negotiations, and data management to drive profitability.

You will report to the Category Manager Electrical, Lighting, Home & Living, collaborating with country hubs and teams across regions to deliver value and sustainable packaging initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master or Bachelor in Business, Supply Chain, or Marketing preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in product management, sourcing, or procurement.
• DIY products experience valuable in European market.
• Knowledge of lighting, electrical installation, cables, batteries, and related items.
• Fluency in English; Chinese language skills preferred.

Job title: Product Manager Electrical, Lighting, Home & Living

Location: Hong Kong, or Shanghai (China)

Role Summary

The Product Manager Electrical & Lighting is responsible for managing and overseeing the category Electrical & Lighting within Teal Goal Limited. This includes market research, product selection and development, supplier negotiations and relationships, data management, price setting, packaging and sustainability related topics.

You will report to the Category Manager Electrical, Lighting, Home & Living.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for assigned assortments within the Category Electrical & Lighting, which includes the following products: lighting, electrical installation, cable & accessories, batteries & torches, fans, aircons & heaters.


• Market Research: Understand market trends and customer preferences in their product assortment and identify product opportunities.


• Product Selection & Development: Choose new products, innovations and prepare the presentation to the customers. Work with country hubs on innovations and help the Category Manager with the presentation of the offers to the countries and European customers in a structured way.


• Supplier Negotiation & Relationship: Negotiate terms of purchase, delivery, and payment with suppliers. Identifying and reducing risks in the supply chain, establish close relationship with suppliers (e.g. factory visits)


• Price Setting: Help to find competitive pricing for products in the category, considering factors such as cost, market trends, and profitability.


• Packaging and Sustainability: Responsible for optimizing packaging, shipping volume, and related measures to market the products sustainably in collaboration with the Sustainability Team.


• Product Assortment & Data Management: In charge of ensuring that products, assortments, and supplier data are current and accurately entered into IT systems, and that all requests and quotes are accessible in online systems.


• In charge of meeting sales and margin goals for the specified product range.


• Arranging and following up on buying and sourcing trips before and after the visits for both individual and country buyers.

Skills and Qualifications

• Education & experience: A higher education (Master or Bachelor degree or comparable) in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Marketing is preferred.


• Minimum 5 years of experience in product management, sourcing, or procurement.


• Industry-specific experience in DIY products, especially related to the European market, is highly valuable.


• Good expertise in the following product groups highly valuable: lighting, electrical installation, cable & accessories, batteries & torches, fans, aircons & heaters, decorative products (seasonal incl. Christmas), home & living.


• Team player with excellent communication & presentation skills in English (fluent, must) and also Chinese (preferable). Effective communication with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.


• Good knowledge of the production & purchasing markets in Fareast/Asia. Familiar with EU test standards & product compliance, knowledge of factory operations.


• Able to develop new products and innovations together with the factory.


• A good understanding of the market and customer needs and preferences, along with analytical skills. Must be able to conduct market research, analyze data, and assess the impact and value of the products, using data to drive sourcing decisions.


• Thorough knowledge of the technology and tools used to create and deliver the products requested in the target market.


• Creativity skills: Able to create new and creative ideas for the assigned product range. Ability to think outside the box, experiment with different solutions, and make changes based on feedback.


• Project Management skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively, handling challenges and tight deadlines.


• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with other departments (e.g., marketing, logistics). Communicate location-independently with a team in multiple countries and locations.


• Excellent IT & computer skills (Windows or macOS): Work in a modern work environment and able to learn new technologies and adapt to changing requirements.
