Job description

This role oversees mechanical architecture, structural design, and manufacturing execution from concept to mass production. The ideal candidate balances strong technical capability in high-precision mechanical design with strong team leadership to meet strict quality, cost, and schedule targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and build a mechanical engineering team, providing technical guidance and long-term career development.
• Manage engineering resource allocations across multiple new product development (NPD) projects to align with product roadmaps.
• Serve as the technical authority approving mechanical designs, material selections, and tooling specifications for parts and assemblies.
• Utilize advanced 3D CAD systems and FEA simulation techniques (stress, thermal, structural) to validate designs prior to prototype builds.
• Enforce rigorous quality standards to maximize production yield, long-term field reliability, and overall product performance.
• Partner closely with Industrial Design (ID), Electronics Engineering (EE), Manufacturing, and QA teams to align product specifications with cost, aesthetic, and functional goals.
• Oversee tooling design, plastic injection molding, precision metal fabrication, packaging, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
• Address and resolve complex mechanical construction and tooling issues during prototype and production stages.
• Track and manage mechanical development schedules, project budgets, and unit product costs.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 10 years of progressive mechanical design experience, including 3-5 years in an engineering management or team lead role.
• Proven track record in consumer electronics, or high-precision mechanical devices.
• Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, FEA simulation tools, and mechanical troubleshooting techniques (8D, Root Cause Analysis).
• In-depth knowledge of DFM/DFA, packaging design, tooling processes, and surface finishing techniques.
• Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive project delivery under deadlines.
