Job summary

Defond Electrical Industries Limited in Hong Kong seeks a junior Mechanical Engineer to design and oversee the manufacturing process of power tool products. You will assist with mechanical design, BOMs, and design changes while supporting prototype testing and reliability assessments.

You will collaborate with Electronics, Software, Quality, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Project Management teams, bringing proactive problem-solving and strong teamwork to the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of 3D modeling software (AutoCAD/SolidWorks/Creo) or equivalent CAD tools.
• Experience in molding processes or designing plastic/metal parts is a plus.
• Self-motivated, proactive and eager to learn.
• Good problem-solving and communication skills with strong teamwork.
• Good command of English and Mandarin; Cantonese helpful.

Responsibilities

Work on the design and manufacturing process of power tool products

Assist in the mechanical design of products to fulfill requirements, including but not limited to component and material selection, 3D/2D drawings, specification definition, BOM preparation, NPD activities, production support, and design change management

Support product and component evaluation, including prototype testing, design verification, reliability testing, and failure analysis, and assist in resolving engineering issues

Prepare documents and regular reports for assigned projects

Support project-related activities with project and production teams

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Electronics, Software, Quality, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Project Management throughout the product development lifecycle

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines
• 0 to 2 years of relevant working experience
• Knowledge of 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent CAD tools
• Experience in molding processes or designing plastic and metal parts will be an advantage
• Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn
• Good problem-solving and communication skills with strong team spirit
• Good command of written and spoken English and Mandarin; knowledge of Cantonese is an advantage
