Job summary

Hong Kong Housing Society is seeking an experienced professional to lead town planning initiatives in Hong Kong. You will assist in research, analyses, development planning and feasibility studies to identify housing opportunities and ensure compliance with planning legislations and approvals.

Responsibilities include advising on planning approvals strategy, coordinating planning briefs and Master Layout Plans, supporting in-house teams on planning and urban design, and liaising with government

Qualifications

• Degree in town planning or equivalent.
• HKIP or RTPI membership with 5+ years post-qualification experience OR Master/Bachelor in Town Planning with 8+ years relevant experience.
• Experience securing planning approvals in Hong Kong.
• At least 2 years' managerial experience.
• Strategic thinking and strong analytical, presentation, supervisory and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese; Putonghua is an advantage.
• Proficiency in MS Office, design/presentation software and Chinese word processing; GIS knowledge preferable.

The Job

• Assist in conducting researches and analyses as well as planning, development or technical feasibility studies to identify housing development opportunities in Hong Kong.
• Assist in assessing the compliance with town planning related legislations and guidelines as well as the compliance with planning approvals including any approval conditions for the committed and potential projects.
• Provide advice on the strategy of seeking necessary planning approvals and facilitate the submission of planning briefs, planning applications, Master Layout Plans and technical assessments.
• Provide support to in-house teams on town planning, urban design, development control systems and other related technical expertise.
• Prepare consultancy briefs, coordinate with consultant teams and monitor consultant teams’ performances.
• Liaise with Government authorities and different stakeholders such as district councils, local concern groups, etc. to facilitate the planning and development processes.
• Assist in supervising and coaching the team members in theirroles.

The Person

• Degree holder in town planning or equivalent.
• Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP) or the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or equivalent with minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience OR Master or Bachelor Degree holder in Town Planning or equivalent with minimum 8 years' relevant experience.
• Relevant experience shall include practical experience in securing planning approvals in Hong Kong.
• At least 2 years' experience in managerial position.
• Strategic thinking, accepting changes with good analytical, presentation, supervisory and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent spoken and written English and Chinese. Good spoken Putonghua is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, design/ presentation software and Chinese Word processing.Knowledge in Geographic Information System is preferable.
• Candidates with less experience will be considered for lower position.
