Job summary

BBVA in Hong Kong invites an experienced Macro Flow Sales professional to drive day-to-day client servicing and end-to-end trade execution across FX, Rates, and Repo/Securities Financing for institutional clients in APAC.

You will work with trading, structuring and research teams globally to deliver trade ideas, market intelligence and comprehensive coverage, while expanding your client base and deepening wallets.

Qualifications

• University graduate in a numerical or engineering subject.
• 5-10 years’ Macro or FX Sales experience covering institutional clients.
• Familiarity with FX/Fixed Income markets.
• Portable relationships across geographies such as HK, SG, Korea, China, Taiwan.
• TMA Member (ATMP, CTMP, or CSTMP).

• Work with trading, structuring and research teams to provide client coverage, trade ideas and market intelligence.
• End-to-end trade execution from taking orders through post-trade support.
• Assist with active client relationship management and wallet deepening.
• Demonstrate understanding of market drivers and identify product opportunities.
• Eagerness to learn about different business lines and gain product expertise.
• Produce daily commentary for distribution to APAC clients.
• Cross-coverage of credit-focused accounts would be beneficial.

Job description

As a member of the Macro Flow Sales team you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day client servicing and execution of trades on the desk across the full range of Macro flow products (FX, Rates, Repo/Securities Financing) within BBVA. Your coverage will be institutional clients, with a geographic allocation dependent on where your current experience lies and/or where you have an existing portfolio of accounts.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with our trading, structuring and research teams globally to provide comprehensive client coverage, including trade ideas and market intelligence
• Be responsible for the end-to-end trade execution process from taking client orders, to booking and post-trade support for clients across the desk
• Assist the team in active client relationship management, working on strategies to deepen existing wallets as well as developing your own client base
• Demonstrate proficiency in understanding market drivers and identifying product opportunities
• An eagerness to learn about our different business lines and gain expertise across products
• Production of daily written commentary for distribution to BBVA’s APAC client base
• Some cross-coverage of Credit-focused accounts would also be beneficial

Qualification & Experience

• University Graduate, major in a numerical or engineering subject preferred
• 5-10yrs’ experience in Macro or FX Sales covering institutional clients. More experienced applicants will be considered for an VP/ED level role
• Familiarity with the flow of FX/Fixed Income markets
• Portable relationships in a particular client segment (FI, NBFI, HFs, RM, CBs etc), and in particular geographies (SG, HK, Korea, China, Taiwan, etc)
• TMA Member (ATMP, CTMP, or CSTMP)

Knowledge & Skills

• Experience using key markets platforms: Bloomberg, Reuters FXT/Eikon, FXall, etc
• A high degree of competence with Microsoft Office and/or Google Enterprise software
• Capable of navigating large data sets & distilling insights
• An understanding of derivatives & securities financing documentation, experience in the life cycle of a negotiation welcomed
• Fluency in written and spoken English, and/or Cantonese and Mandarin

• Proficiency in additional languages (e.g. Korean, Japanese) would be considered a plus

• Ability to work efficiently under self direction with minimal supervision
• Demonstrable commercial awareness when engaging with clients
• Responsible and dedicated to the job, committed to compliance with internal procedures
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Able to work in a matrix reporting structure, in a multi-functional role with close collaboration with teams in Madrid, London, New York and Latin America
