Job summary

• Experience in commercial litigation is essential.
• Excellent contract drafting and interpretation skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English and Chinese; Mandarin a plus.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and liaise with external counsel on litigation matters and provide strategic advice to management and internal units.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements and legal documentation relating to banking services and products.
• Provide timely legal advice to management and internal units.
• Review and update internal policies to ensure compliance with current laws and regulations.
• Coordinate with headquarters and overseas branches to ensure policy consistency.
• Organise training on legal matters for staff and keep the bank informed of legal changes.

Job description

Instruct and liaise with external counsel on litigation matters and provide accurate and strategic advice to the management and the relevant internal units;

Draft, review and negotiate a full range of commercial agreements and legal documentation in relation to the banking services and products;

Provide timely and accurate legal advice to the management and relevant internal units within the bank;

Review and update the internal policies and procedures from legal perspective to ensure compliance with the latest law and regulation in force;

Work closely with other internal units including the headquarter and overseas branches to ensure consistency of the bank’s policies as a whole; and

Organise and provide training on legal matters to staff and ensure that the bank is informed of any changes in the legal framework.

Requirements:

Hong Kong qualified lawyer with at least 3 years of PQE;

Prior experience in the banking or finance industry or knowledge in banking is highly preferred;

Experience and knowledge in commercial litigation is essential;

Possess excellent contract drafting and interpretation skills;

Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Proficiency in Mandarin is a significant advantage)
