Job summary

China CITIC Bank International is seeking a seasoned legal professional to provide comprehensive legal advice to the bank and its subsidiaries in Hong Kong.

The role covers drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, coordinating with external counsel, monitoring regulatory developments, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws. The successful candidate will have at least five years post-qualification experience and HK legal qualification, with fluency in English and Chinese.

Qualifications

• Must hold a law degree and be a HK-qualified lawyer.
• Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in law firms, in-house legal, or financial institutions.
• Strong written and spoken English and Chinese (Putonghua) required.

Responsibilities

• Provide general legal advice to the Bank and its subsidiaries.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts and bank documentation.
• Work with external lawyers and manage the panel of external counsel.
• Monitor performance of external lawyers and advise on engagements.
• Anticipate and advise on legal impact of new business initiatives.
• Review and update manuals, policies and procedures in light of regulations.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and seek guidance from authorities as needed.
• Provide or assist training to employees on legal/compliance matters.
• Coordinate with Compliance and regulators in Hong Kong.

Job description

Provide professional legal advice, services and support to the Bank and its subsidiaries to protect their interest against unwanted or unacceptable legal risks.

Job Description

• Provide general legal advice to the retail and corporate banking and treasury operations of the Bank, as the case may be, as well as other support units of the Bank
• Draft, review and negotiate on commercial contracts, terms and conditions, bank documentation for the Bank
• Work with external lawyers in relation to leases, commercial agreements, transactions and litigation
• Monitor performance of external lawyers engaged by the Bank in dealing with the transactions and assist to maintain a proper panel list for using external lawyers
• Anticipate, analyze and advise on the legal impact of new business initiatives and development of the Bank
• Review and update existing manuals, policies and procedures in view of the changing legal environment and commercial practice in relation to the business of the Bank
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies and guidelines and seek advice from appropriate authorities in the relevant jurisdiction when needed
• Provide or assist training to employees in the Bank regarding legal or compliance related matters
• Work and coordinate with the Compliance function as needed, including dealing with regulators in Hong Kong

Skills & Requirements

• Degree holder in Law or related disciplines
• Minimum 5 years' post-qualification working experience in law firms, in-house Legal Department or in financial institutions
• A qualified lawyer in Hong Kong
• Solid banking and finance experience in banking sectors and transactions
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua)
