We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established corporate bank expands its presence in Hong Kong. We are seeking a high-caliber Legal Counsel to take ownership of legal and compliance functions, support business growth, and act as a strategic advisor to senior management.

This role offers excellent exposure to complex banking products, regulatory frameworks, and direct collaboration with key business units and external legal counsel.

Key Responsibilities

• Legal Leadership & Advisory: Lead daily legal and compliance matters across banking operations; provide practical legal counsel and coordinate effectively with external law firms.
• Regulatory Tracking: Monitor, interpret, and disseminate regulatory updates and industry best practices; track internal implementation and progress.
• Compliance & Advisory Support: Support regulatory compliance matters, including licensing requirements, product approvals, and ongoing regulatory queries.
• Monitoring & Remediation: Conduct compliance reviews across business activities, operations, and new product launches; drive timely remediation for identified gaps.
• Training & Capability Building: Design and deliver regular legal and compliance training to internal teams to foster a strong compliance culture.
• Departmental Support: Execute strategic projects and ad-hoc initiatives delegated by the Head of Legal/Department Head.

Key Requirements

• Qualification: Hong Kong Qualified Lawyer (Hong Kong practicing certificate or admission required).
• Experience: Proven track record in banking law, regulatory compliance, or financial services within a reputable financial institution or corporate law firm.
• Language Proficiency: Fluent Mandarin and English (spoken and written) are essential to interact with stakeholders and review documentation.
• Skills: Strong analytical mindset, commercial acumen, and excellent stakeholder management skills.
