• Liaise with external counsel to obtain opinions and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Identify legal and regulatory risks and advise on mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across regions to align on legal matters.
• Assist Head of Legal & Compliance with ad hoc projects and policies.

Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated legal professional to join our Legal & Compliance team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive legal support to our businesses, with a primary focus on Global Markets, Equity Derivative, Brokerage and Wealth Management. This is a key role that requires a strong commercial mindset, deep regulatory knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively across business units in a fast-paced environment.

• Provide proactive and solution-oriented legal support to the group's Global Markets, Equity Derivative, Brokerage and Wealth Management businesses.
• Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of legal contracts, agreements, and documentation for the business units.
• Deliver clear, practical, and risk-based legal advice on matters relating to our business units.
• Liaise and coordinate with external counsel when required to obtain specialist legal opinions and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Identify legal and regulatory risks and advise business stakeholders on mitigation strategies.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders, including the business units, compliance, risk, and operations teams, to ensure alignment on legal and regulatory matters.
• Assist the Head of Legal & Compliance with ad hoc projects, internal policies, and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree or equivalent; qualified to practice law in Hong Kong.
• Minimum 7-10 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) , gained either from a reputable law firm or as in-house counsel within the financial services industry.
• Solid experience working with securities firms, brokerage houses, or asset management companies. Prior exposure to Chinese financial institutions is highly preferred.
• Excellent communication skills in both English and Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written) to effectively liaise with colleagues and stakeholders across regions.
• Strong knowledge of financial products, including equities, derivatives, and wealth management products, as well as relevant regulatory frameworks.
