Job summary

Nex is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Test (SDET) to build the test engineering capability within Platform Software Engineering, ensuring Nex Playground experiences are reliable and safe.

You will define and implement an automated test strategy spanning device software, cloud services, and hardware-integrated systems, leading through hands-on execution and guiding AI adoption while keeping human judgment in the loop.

Qualifications

• Experience setting technical direction for test engineering across teams and independently delivering work from strategy through implementation and iteration.
• Strong hands-on software engineering skills with automated test frameworks and infrastructure.
• Experience defining and delivering test strategies for complex software systems including functional, regression, and stress testing.
• Experience testing cloud services under load with representative workloads and data.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD and improving test feedback reliability and speed.
• Understanding of instrumenting, APIs, isolation, mocks, and test data for testability.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the automated test strategy for Platform Software Engineering. Prioritize coverage based on product risk.
• Define test approaches, quality criteria, and release feedback with platform engineers.
• Review and improve vendors’ test strategies and coverage; address gaps with vendors.
• Research, evaluate, and develop new testing techniques and tools to improve coverage and speed.
• Drive responsible, practical AI adoption in test design and workflows while maintaining human verification.
• Develop functional, stress, and regression testing for software and hardware products; instrument test data and dashboards.
