Job summary

Leadingnation is seeking a Kindergarten Learning Assistant to support teachers in planning developmentally appropriate activities and guiding children through play-based learning in a Hong Kong setting.

The role requires strong English, excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, and a commitment to a safe, engaging classroom. Experience with international schools or PYP will be advantageous, with a focus on professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that support play, exploration and discovery.
• Lead small learning groups as directed by teachers and provide meaningful feedback to children.
• Observe and discuss observations with teachers to inform further learning opportunities.
• Assist children as needed and accompany them on study trips.
• Set up and maintain a safe classroom environment and provide outdoor learning opportunities.
• Reflect on practice, maintain organisation, and build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.

Major Responsibilities

Planning and Preparation

• Support Kindergarten teachers in setting up developmentally appropriate learning opportunities which support play, exploration and discovery, based on interests, passions and abilities of children

Supporting Learning

• Lead small learning groups based on teacher plans and direction
• Provide meaningful and constructive feedback to children
• Observe learning and discuss observations with teachers to inform further learning opportunities
• Assist children according to situation and need
• Accompany children on study trips

Managing a Learning Environment

• Set up and maintain the classroom so it is a safe environment which supports learning
• Provide regular opportunities for children to learn outdoors

Contributing to a Learning Community

• Consistently reflect on own practice
• Be organised and disciplined with own responsibilities
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues
• Set and monitor own challenging learning goals, seeking out own professional learning opportunities
• Participate in school events when asked
