Job summary

Pathos Consultancy Limited is seeking a skilled Java Backend Developer for a fintech platform in Hong Kong. You will design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services using Java and Spring Boot within a microservices framework.

You will work with Kubernetes, Docker, REST APIs and FIX protocol, collaborating with product, engineering and operations teams in an agile DevOps environment to deliver scalable solutions and robust production support.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional Java development experience.
• 5+ years with Spring / Spring Boot.
• Design and build microservices for large-scale enterprise apps.
• Kubernetes and Docker deployment experience.
• Strong RESTful API design using OpenAPI/Swagger.
• FIX protocol knowledge for trading systems.
• Experience with messaging queues (ActiveMQ/RabbitMQ/Kafka).
• Git, Jenkins, CI/CD and modern SDLC practices.
• AWS and managed cloud services.
• Fluent in Cantonese or Mandarin.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Java Backend Developer | Fintech | Up to 80K

Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java backend services for a large-scale enterprise financial platform.

Build and evolve microservices using Spring Boot, containerised deployment, and Kubernetes.

Develop and integrate trading-related functionality using the FIX protocol.

Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams to deliver new features and releases.

Work within an agile, DevOps-driven environment, including CI/CD, monitoring, and production support.

Identify and resolve performance, reliability, and scalability issues across backend services.

Your Profile

7+ years of professional Java development experience, with strong expertise in backend engineering.

5+ years of hands-on experience with Spring / Spring Boot.

Proven experience designing and building microservices for large-scale enterprise applications.

Solid experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerised application deployment.

Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger, and enterprise integration patterns.

Hands-on experience with the FIX protocol.

Experience with message queues or event-driven architectures, such as ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, or Kafka.

Strong knowledge of Git, Jenkins, CI/CD, testing practices, and modern SDLC processes.

Experience with AWS and managed cloud services.

Experience in financial services, capital markets, banking, or trading systems.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Fluent in Cantonese or Mandarin
