IT Director (System | Custody, Fund Administration, or Asset Servicing)
Our client, a leading financial institution is seeking a IT Director (System Development). This role requires close alignment between technology direction, enterprise architecture, business priorities, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will guide modernization, strengthen resilience, and support operational excellence across systems that underpin securities operations. The position also involves collaboration with business stakeholders, third-party vendors, and internal teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality technology solutions.
Responsibilities
- Report to the Head of Information Technology and provide leadership for the Global Securities Services platform across custody, fund accounting, and asset servicing.
- Define and execute the target architecture and multi-year technology roadmap for the Global Securities Services platform.
- Oversee the end-to-end implementation, support, and enhancement of systems for custody, asset servicing, fund accounting, valuation, and reporting.
- Partner with business stakeholders to prioritize enhancements, deliver practical technology solutions, and manage service expectations.
- Manage third-party vendors and service providers, including implementation oversight, service performance, and release planning.
- Strengthen data architecture, governance, and control practices to improve reporting, reconciliation, and operational transparency.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, audit requirements, and information security protocols across relevant systems and processes.
- Build, lead, and mentor a technology team with domain expertise in securities operations and fund accounting.
- Foster collaboration with internal IT teams and affiliates to support a coordinated delivery model.
Requirements
- University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of relevant experience in IT leadership roles, including at least 3 years of direct experience in Custody, Fund Administration, or Asset Servicing.
- Prior experience as a trusted technology partner to an operations team, ideally within a custodian bank or fund administrator.
- Strong understanding of custody and fund accounting concepts, including NAV methodologies, trade lifecycle, corporate actions, reconciliation, and fee calculations.
- Experience with core Global Custody platforms, Proxy Voting systems, and industry standards such as SWIFT, FIX, ISO 20022, and securities identifiers including ISIN/CUSIP/SEDOL.
- Working knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements, specifically FATCA and MiFID.
- Proficiency in SQL for complex queries and break analysis, ETL tools, and one modern language such as Python, C#, or Java.
- Proven track record in large-scale project implementation, vendor management, team building, and technology operations.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to senior business management and non-technical audiences.
- Good command of both English and Chinese, including Cantonese and Putonghua.
