Job summary

Michael Page International (Hong Kong) Limited seeks an experienced HR Generalist to act as the trusted HR lead for the business, covering talent acquisition, payroll, benefits, and HR operations. You will partner with Hong Kong and Dongguan leadership to deliver strategic HR support and drive organisational growth.

You will ensure compliance with Mainland China laws, manage payroll and social insurance administration, and guide workforce planning, employee engagement, and HR process

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related discipline.
  • 10–15 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Mainland China employment laws incl. social insurance and housing fund administration.
  • Excellent English and Chinese communication; ability to travel to Dongguan.

Responsibilities

  • Act as trusted HR lead overseeing the full spectrum of HR functions including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation & benefits, payroll, performance management, compliance, and HR operations.
  • Serve as the key HR business partner to the Hong Kong and Dongguan leadership teams, providing strategic and operational HR support to drive business performance and organisational growth.
  • Support the Dongguan operation through regular onsite engagement, building strong relationships with stakeholders and ensuring effective delivery of HR initiatives and day-to-day HR support.
  • Ensure compliance with Mainland China employment laws, labour regulations, and statutory requirements, proactively managing risk and advising management on HR best practices.
  • Oversee payroll and statutory benefits administration, including social insurance, housing fund contributions, and other employment-related obligations, ensuring accuracy and compliance at all times.
  • Partner closely with business leaders to provide commercially focused HR guidance on workforce planning, talent management, employee engagement, organisational effectiveness, and people-related challenges.
  • Design, implement, and continuously enhance HR policies, procedures, frameworks, and governance practices to support a scalable and high-performing organisation.
  • Drive operational excellence across all HR processes, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, employee experience, and overall HR service delivery.
  • Lead recruitment initiatives to attract, engage, and retain high-calibre talent while supporting the development of a strong employer brand.
  • Champion HR transformation and continuous improvement projects, helping to build structure, optimise processes, and establish best-in-class HR practices as the business grows.

About Our Client

Our client is a well-established and growing consumer products organisation with a significant presence across Greater China. They are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join their Hong Kong office and serve as the key HR business partner supporting operations in Dongguan.

The Successful Applicant
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, or related disciplines.
  • Approximately 10-15 years of progressive HR experience, covering both strategic and operational HR responsibilities.
  • Proven experience managing the full spectrum of HR, including recruitment, payroll, compensation & benefits, employee relations, compliance, and HR operations.
  • Strong knowledge of Mainland China employment laws and regulations, including social insurance and housing fund administration.
  • Previous experience working within Chinese-owned or Mainland China headquartered organisations is essential.
  • Comfortable operating independently in a standalone or lean HR environment.
  • Highly proactive, hands-on, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to build structure, establish processes, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills in both English and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese preferred).
  • Willingness and ability to travel to Dongguan on a regular basis.
