Job summary

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to interact with customers, employees and third parties that reflects highly on the hotel, the brand and the Company.

• Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities.
• Good writing skills
• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance or related field.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to the hotel’s credit policy.
• Report to the Director of Finance and Business Support on all matters pertaining to credit and collection of guest and city ledger accounts.
• Cooperate, coordinate and communicate with guests and other departments in matters concerning issuance of credit and follow up outstanding accounts.
• Liaise with the City Ledger Supervisor in reviewing and maintaining the Aged Trial Balance of Accounts Receivable.
• Monitor special billing arrangements for groups and conventions to ensure postings align with customer requirements.
• Review city ledger daily for correct postings of charges and take corrective action where necessary.
• Monitor and pursue collection of overdue accounts.
• Review bad debts listing monthly to prepare collectability analysis for monthly provision for doubtful debts.
• Respond to and resolve account queries in conjunction with accounts receivable.
• Assist in control and collection of outstanding guest and city ledger accounts.
• Prepare management reports for month end analysis and provide documentation for credit meetings.
• Review provisions, write-offs and other adjustments prior to month end.
• Conduct monthly credit meetings with relevant IHG team highlighting performance, bad debts and accounts outstanding.
• Assist in maintaining accurate and timely financial and operating information with emphasis on the Aged Trial Balance of Accounts Receivable.
• Assist in providing safekeeping for contracts, leases and other financial records.
• Maintain professional and technical competence.
• Assist in implementing acceptable accounting practices as required by IHG policies and local conditions.
• Work with superiors on manpower planning and department budget.
