Job summary

Hong Kong International School is seeking a Humanities Teacher focused on Social Studies and Religious Education for grades 9–12. The candidate will design inquiry-based instruction, assess learning, and promote critical thinking while maintaining neutrality on faith topics.

The role requires collaboration across the department, integration of EAL considerations, and active participation in student wellbeing initiatives within an international school context in Hong Kong.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in a relevant subject area.
• Masters degree preferred.
• Qualified Teacher Certification required/licensed.
• Minimum 5 years of full-time teaching in the subject area.
• Experience in an international school and American system preferred.
• Experience with EAL students and families preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess social studies and religious education concepts for grades 9–12.
• Promote critical thinking while maintaining neutrality in class.
• Engage with Pastoral Care Groups and SEL framework to support students.
• Collaborate with department and division to align assessments and feedback.
• Model professionalism and uphold HKIS values; maintain a safe learning environment.
