Job summary

Ascendion is seeking a hands-on Software Test Engineer to support testing of a government web application. You will perform manual testing, SIT/UAT, and API testing, collaborating with developers, business users, and external partners to ensure quality and release readiness.

The role requires strong documentation, test data creation, and defect tracking, with on-site testing at client locations when needed. The team follows Agile/Scrum practices.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with manual software testing.
• Knowledge of SIT and UAT testing.
• Ability to design structured test scenarios and cases.
• Experience managing defect lifecycles from identification to closure.
• Experience collaborating with technical and business users.
• Basic API testing exposure, using Postman or similar tools.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Proficient in Excel for test tracking and reporting.
• Ability to work independently in a structured environment.
• Willingness to perform onsite testing at client/government locations.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on manual functional, regression, integration, SIT and UAT testing for web-based applications.
• Review requirements and create test scenarios, cases, data, expected results, and evidence.
• Coordinate UAT activities with business users including scheduling and follow-up.
• Identify, document, track, retest, and close defects.
• Work with developers, system engineers, PMs, users to troubleshoot issues.
• Test integrations and interfaces with external systems (Postman, simulators, API testing).
• Validate data flows and system behavior across integrated apps.
• Maintain testing docs, status reports, and defect trackers.
• Support testing at customer/government locations when required.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum activities.
