Job summary

The Department of Anatomical and Cellular Pathology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong invites applications for a Medical Laboratory Technician II (Haematology Laboratory) based at Prince of Wales Hospital, Shatin. The role covers technical support for molecular hematology services, NGS, and HLA DNA testing, plus R&D and biobanking management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in biology-related discipline from a recognised university or technical institute.
• Registered as a Medical Laboratory Technologist under Part II or above of the Register of the Medical Laboratory Technologist Board in Hong Kong.
• At least 3 years' work experience in medical laboratory science.
• Experience in handling and processing of blood samples.
• Experience in advanced molecular biology techniques, such as NGS library preparation and droplet digital PCR.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to molecular hematology service including qPCR- and ddPCR-based assays.
• Provide technical support to NGS testing service.
• Provide technical support to HLA DNA testing service.
• Carry out research and development work.
• Manage database (laboratory management system and biobanking).
• Assist in equipment purchase, evaluation and maintenance.
• Perform other ad-hoc tasks.
