Job summary

Kam Yuen (Group) International Ltd is seeking a Group Quality Manager to lead quality management from NPI to mass production, champion APQP and IATF 16949 tools across factories. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or related field.
• 8-10+ years in quality management in manufacturing; 3+ years in precision metal or fiber optic industries.
• Deep understanding of IATF 16949 and core tools; auditor certification is a plus.
• Mastery of APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP; able to mentor others.

Responsibilities

Job description

As a key quality leader at the corporate level, the Group Quality Manager will primarily focus on enhancing and optimizing the company's quality management process from New Product Introduction (NPI) to Mass Production (MP). Acting as a corporate function, this role will champion the implementation of APQP and other IATF 16949 core tools across various manufacturing sites.

Key Responsibilities:

1. NPI to MP Process Optimization & Standardization:

Evaluate, streamline, and optimize the existing NPI to MP transition process to ensure effective Quality Gates.

Establish and publish unified corporate-level NPI quality standards and procedures for all factories to follow.

2. APQP & IATF 16949 Core Tools Implementation:

Act as the corporate Subject Matter Expert (SME) for APQP and core tools (FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP), driving their deep application in NPI projects across factories.

Guide factory quality and engineering teams in properly establishing and maintaining key documents (e.g., PFMEA, Control Plans), reviewing their effectiveness.

Oversee the PPAP preparation and submission process to ensure all quality risks are identified and mitigated prior to mass production.

3. Training & Capability Building:

Develop and deliver training programs on IATF 16949 core tools for factory management, engineers, and cross-functional teams.

Act as an internal mentor, coaching factory quality teams through actual projects to enhance their ability to solve complex quality issues and utilize preventive quality tools.

4. Audit, Monitoring & Performance Management:

Conduct regular phase-gate quality reviews for NPI projects across factories to ensure strict adherence to the APQP process.

Establish and monitor key NPI quality metrics (e.g., First Pass Yield, PPAP First-Time Approval Rate, Early MP Defect Rate) to drive continuous improvement.

Identify execution gaps and collaborate with factory management to implement corrective and preventive actions.

5. Cross-functional Collaboration & Strategic Support:

Drive cross-functional alignment with R&D, Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to integrate "Quality by Design" principles early in the product lifecycle.

Support the HK-based Group Quality Director in formulating annual quality strategies and deploying corporate quality goals to the Zhongshan site and other manufacturing bases.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or related fields.

Experience: 8-10+ years of quality management experience in the manufacturing sector, with at least 3+ years in the precision metal or fiber optic industry. Proven track record in NPI quality management and mass production transition. Corporate or regional quality management experience is highly preferred.

Professional Skills:

Deep understanding of the IATF 16949 quality management system; internal/lead auditor certification is a plus.

Absolute mastery of the 5 Core Tools (APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP) with the ability to teach and mentor others.

Familiarity with manufacturing processes and common defect modes in precision metal stamping/machining or fiber optic assembly.

Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification is preferred.

Soft Skills:

Exceptional Leadership & Influence: Ability to drive factory teams to adopt corporate standards in a matrix organization without direct administrative authority.

Strong logical thinking, problem-solving skills (8D, 5 Why), and project management capabilities.
