Role Overview
We are seeking a Geospatial & Research Specialist to lead our global research initiatives and direct large-scale urban forest management deployments worldwide. Operating at the intersection of spatial data science, smart green technology, and international business development, you will drive project delivery end-to-end—from leading technical research methodologies and authoring high-value public/private tenders to pitching solutions directly to overseas municipal authorities, enterprise clients, and institutional partners.
This senior role demands extensive international mobility, executive-level technical communication, and hands‑on leadership to conduct overseas field deployments and staff training.
Core ResponsibilitiesStrategic Research Leadership & Urban Forest Management
- Global Project Direction: Lead multi-regional applied research initiatives evaluating urban forestry dynamics, canopy microclimate impacts, tree stability, and nature-based solutions using remote sensing, GIS, and real-time environmental IoT sensor networks.
- Methodology & Standardization: Establish scalable geospatial workflows and data standards for international urban tree inventories, risk monitoring frameworks, and ecological asset valuations.
- Technical Publications & Insights: Author authoritative white papers, case studies, and industry research reports positioning our solutions at the forefront of urban forestry technology.
Business Development, Tender Writing & Client Engagement
- Tender & Proposal Leadership: Lead the technical authoring, geospatial methodology design, and scoping for international government tenders, commercial RFPs, and multilateral research grants.
- Client & Account Ownership: Serve as the primary technical subject matter expert for key global accounts—translating municipal mandates, forestry policies, and client requirements into operational geospatial solutions.
- Executive Pitching: Deliver high-impact technical demonstrations and boardroom presentations to international stakeholders, including city planning bureaus, corporate developers, and forestry departments.
International Deployments & Field Training
- Frequent Global Travel (30–50%): Travel internationally to oversee project kickoffs, supervise spatial data collection (terrestrial/drone LiDAR, sensor networks), and ensure high-integrity system implementation.
- Capacity Building & Field Training: Design and deliver on-site training programs for local technical teams, arborists, field contractors, and client staff across various regions.
Candidate QualificationsCategoryRequirementsEducation & Experience
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Geomatics, GIS, Urban Forestry, Landscape Planning, Environmental Remote Sensing, or a related quantitative discipline.
Technical Expertise
- Advanced mastery of GIS platforms (QGIS, ArcGIS Pro) and spatial databases (PostGIS).
- Robust spatial data science capabilities in Python (geopandas, rasterio, shapely) or R, with experience analyzing remote sensing imagery, point clouds (LiDAR), and IoT telemetry.
- Deep domain fluency in urban forestry metrics, tree health diagnostics, and urban microclimate modeling.
Tender & Commercial Acumen
- Proven track record in successfully scoping, drafting, and winning competitive technical tenders (RFP/ITT) or institutional research grants.
- Strong client-facing consultation skills, with experience managing expectations of high-profile institutional clients.
Mobility & Communication
- Travel Readiness: High flexibility and readiness for frequent international travel (short-term site visits, workshops, and global conferences).
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written command of English for executive presentations and technical authoring.
- Languages (Advantage): Fluency in additional languages (e.g., Cantonese, Mandarin, European, or Southeast Asian languages) is a strong advantage for engaging local partners.
