ProLINK International Translation Service Limited is seeking a freelance transcriber fluent in Vietnamese and Cantonese (Punti) to convert audio and video content into accurate written transcripts.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent listening, fast and precise typing, and the ability to label speakers, apply timecodes, and adapt transcripts to project guidelines across Vietnamese, Cantonese, and occasionally English.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in Vietnamese and Cantonese (Punti).
• Proven transcription experience in both languages.
• Excellent listening skills for various accents and audio qualities.
• Strong written language skills in Vietnamese and Chinese (Cantonese to Chinese).
• Fast, accurate typing with measurable WPM.
• Attention to detail and error-free work.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time.
• Access to reliable computer and internet and quality headphones.

Responsibilities

• Transcribe audio/video recordings from Vietnamese to Vietnamese and Cantonese (Punti) to Chinese (Traditional/Simplified).
• Transcripts may be in verbatim, intelligent verbatim, or clean read per guidelines.
• Identify and label speakers in multi-person recordings.
• Note timecodes, non-verbal cues, and inaudible sections as required.
• Proofread and self-edit transcripts for accuracy.
• Research names, technical terms, and local slang spellings.
• Maintain confidentiality and data security for all content.
• Manage multiple transcription tasks to meet deadlines.

Position: Freelance Audio/Video Transcriber

Location: Remote (Work from Home)

Languages: Vietnamese and Cantonese (Punti/本地)

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and meticulous freelance transcriber to accurately convert audio and video content from spoken Vietnamese and Cantonese (Punti) into written text. The ideal candidate will possess an exceptional ear for both languages, a deep understanding of cultural and linguistic nuances, and a strong commitment to delivering precise, timely transcripts. Your work will be essential for projects such as market research, media analysis, and corporate communications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Transcribe audio/video recordings (e.g., interviews, focus groups, meetings, media broadcasts) from:
• Vietnamese to Vietnamese
• Cantonese (Punti) to Traditional/Simplified Chinese
• Vietnamese to English or Cantonese to English (if applicable to the project)
• Produce transcripts in verbatim (word-for-word), intelligent verbatim, or clean read format, adhering to specific project guidelines.
• Accurately identify and label different speakers in multi-person recordings.
• Note timecodes, non-verbal cues (e.g., laughter, pauses), and inaudible sections as required.
• Proofread and self-edit all transcripts to ensure they are free from errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• Conduct necessary research to verify the correct spelling of specific names, technical terms, and local slang or colloquialisms in both languages.
• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and data security for all content handled.
• Manage multiple transcription tasks efficiently to meet project deadlines.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Native or near-native fluency in Vietnamese and Cantonese (Punti).
• Proven transcription experience in both languages.
• Exceptional listening skills and the ability to comprehend various accents, speaking speeds, and audio qualities in Vietnamese and Cantonese.
• Strong written language skills: Fluency in written Vietnamese. Fluency in written Chinese (ability to transcribe Cantonese audio into either Traditional or Simplified Chinese characters as required).
• Fast and accurate typing speed (please state your Words Per Minute - WPM).
• Impeccable attention to detail and a dedication to producing error-free work.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
• Access to a reliable computer, high-speed internet, and quality headphones.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience using professional transcription software and tools (e.g., Express Scribe, Otter.ai).
• Familiarity with creating subtitles or closed captions (SRT, VTT files).
• Understanding of regional variations within Vietnamese (Northern, Central, Southern accents) and Cantonese.
• Basic proficiency in English for understanding project instructions is a plus.
