Job summary

South China Morning Post invites a talented Freelance Event Designer to take creative ownership of our events on a project basis. You will lead the visual identity across web, social, digital displays, and on-site production, delivering production-ready assets that are striking and precise.

As the sole design lead, you will transform raw concepts into polished visuals, collaborate with marketing and editorial teams, and ensure every touchpoint reflects our premium brand standards and deadlines.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of graphic design, print production, ad operations, or publishing.
• Prior experience in event branding or physical production design is a strong advantage.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and Google Workspace.
• Deep understanding of CMYK vs RGB, image resolutions, and print/digital production standards.
• Knowledge of HTML5 ad animation is necessary.
• Solid grasp of 3D production processes, physical event materials, and lighting applications.
• An exceptional eye for typography, layout alignment, spatial balance, and technical accuracy.
• The ability to thrive under pressure, successfully delivering high-quality work against tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Key Visual (KV) Development: Conceptualize and design event visuals.
• Digital & Web Design: Adapt KV into event website artwork and assets.
• Social Media Campaigns: Design platform-specific social graphics.
• On-Site Event Production: Create artwork for backdrops, stage, 3D activations.
• Immersive Digital Displays: Produce RGB creatives for LED walls and broadcasts.
• Print & Layout Formatting: Finalize layouts for ads and brochures.
• Agile Execution: Manage high-volume design requests with tight turnarounds.
