Job summary

Alibaba Cloud is seeking Forward Deployed Engineers to couple business insight with engineering excellence and client communication to address real-world scenarios of overseas customers. We are seeking FDEs (Forward Deployed Engineer) who combine business acumen, client communication skills, and engineering capabilities to dive deep into real-world business scenarios of overseas customers. Leveraging Alibaba Cloud's AI, data, and cloud products, you will co-build production-ready applications and solutions with our clients.

You will participate in the end-to-end process—from business problem discovery and solution design to development, deployment, and outcome validation—helping customers integrate AI capabilities into their daily operations and distilling front-line practices into reusable product capabilities and industry solutions。

Responsibilities

• Dive deep into client business and define implementation goals. Collaborate closely with client business and technical teams to map out business processes, system architectures, and data landscapes; identify high-value scenarios; and define project scope, technical paths, and measurable success criteria.
• Drive hands-on development from prototype to production. Rapidly build prototypes using LLMs (Large Language Model), Agents, and cloud services. Independently develop or co-build critical code with product and R&D teams, handle system integration and deployment, and iterate continuously toward stable, production-grade applications.
• Bridge enterprise internal systems and data. Connect client - existing APIs, databases, knowledge bases, and business systems. Resolve data quality, permissions, network, and legacy system compatibility issues. Participate in data migration, data pipeline construction, and cloud architecture transformation as needed by the project.
• Ensure application effectiveness and operational quality. Establish evaluation, monitoring, and troubleshooting mechanisms. Continuously optimize task completion rates, accuracy, response speed, and operational cost to meet client requirements for security, reliability, and maintainability.
• Drive customer adoption. Conduct on-site co-building, technical training, and knowledge transfer with client engineering teams. Drive application integration into business processes, track usage and business impact, and identify and pursue follow-up improvement opportunities.
• Distill experience and drive product iteration. Translate common requirements and technical challenges from projects into reusable components, Agent Skills, integration templates, and implementation methodologies. Collaborate with product and R&D teams to drive improvements.

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical abilities; 3+ years of experience in software development, data engineering, or client - side technical implementation.
• Deep domain expertise in industries such as finance, insurance, retail, or digital-native enterprises, as well as experience in manufacturing, automotive, public services, or other industries.
• Ability to communicate directly with clients, decompose ambiguous requirements into actionable tasks, proactively drive work forward under conditions of incomplete information and changing requirements, and take ownership of delivery outcomes.
• In-depth project experience in at least one of the following areas: AI applications and Agents, database migration and modernization, or big data platforms and data engineering. Ability to clearly articulate the technical work undertaken and the business outcomes achieved.
• Hands-on experience with LLM applications; understanding of prompt engineering, RAG, tool calling, Agent workflows, and effect evaluation. Proficient in using AI coding tools to improve development efficiency, with the ability to verify and optimize generated code.
• Familiarity with cloud-native application architecture and engineering delivery processes; practical experience with API/ SDK integration, automated deployment, and monitoring/ O&M. Understanding of permissions and data security requirements in enterprise environments.
• Professional English communication ability for technical discussions, solution presentations, and documentation. Ability to work across time zones and travel to client sites overseas as needed by projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise-grade Agent platforms, complex tool calling, multi-Agent collaboration, AI coding tool adoption, or multi modal application deployment.
• Experience with large-scale database migration, big data platform construction, core business system transformation, or multinational enterprise projects.
• Prior experience as an FDE, technical consultant, co-development with clients or in technical entrepreneurship experiences.
• Additional language capabilities relevant to target markets, such as Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, or Arabic, etc..
